Rebecca Fraser grew up in the Eastend and currently lives in Tollcross. She studied printmaking at Edinburgh College of Art graduating with an MA Fine Art in 2012. She is a freelance community artist based in Parkhead Schoolhouse and is part of a collective of local charities called the ‘Parkhead Alliance’. She collaborates on partnership projects working holistically to improve the local area. Since 2017 she has worked closely with Parkhead Housing Association, initially acting as “Artist in Residence” as part of their 40th Anniversary year. She has links with local community organisations and charities as well as statutory organisations.

Current Groups and Projects

Move + Make is a 6 week project with 19 local families in a small area of Tollcross. Funded as part of Starcatchers ‘Big Inspirations’ programme- the project aims to encourage ‘daily walksover the Covid-19 lockdown by providing creative outdoor activities for 0-5yr olds and their families.

Rebecca hosts the Baby Breakfast Club for Parkhead mums and their babies. This is a specially curated weekly art group which supports parents to have quality interactions with their babies and toddlers through high-quality art experiences.

She is also funded by the council’s Area Partnership fund to deliver The Art Club for adults from across the Eastend. People at the group enjoy the mix of group activities and being able to bring projects from home to work on in a “studio” environment.

Family Art Afternoons take place over the school holidays in Parkhead Schoolhouse and are funded by Parkhead Housing Association. These sessions are active, messy and for the whole family to join in!
